Margaret Kennedy grew up in Hart, Michigan, as the oldest of ten children. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Michigan and has spent many years working as a professional counselor, primarily at the community college level. In recent years she has taught a First-Year Experience course at Lansing Community College for those students new to college. Her love of Spanish language, literature and culture began when she and her husband adopted two children from Latin America, a son from Paraguay and a daughter from Guatemala. Those adoptions lead to many trips to several countries in Latin America and many undergraduate Spanish classes for Peggy at Michigan State. This summer she will have the opportunity to travel to Spain. Peggy resides in East Lansing with her husband Leo and their three children, Brendan, a graduate student at University of Michigan, Evan, a student at Central Michigan University, and Cristina, a student at Lansing Community College.
