A minor in Classical and Mediterranean Studies encourages a greater appreciation of our classical past, and a deeper contemplation of the traditions and ideas that have shaped the world.

French programs include B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees as well as several minors. Programs are designed for students to develop excellent reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the French language and build an understanding of the history and cultures of the French-speaking world.

A minor in Italian provides students the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge of Italian language and cultures with additional education abroad opportunities.

The Portuguese minor creates a more globally aware, internationally focused student with knowledge of the language as well as the cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world.

Spanish programs include B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees as well as several minors. Programs encompass the richness and diversity of language, literature, and culture in the Spanish-speaking world. Hispanic studies

The program prepares students in the language, literatures, and cultures of the Hispanic world, with an emphasis on literary, linguistic and cultural studies and scholarly investigation. Hispanic Studies offers a M.A. and Ph.D.

College of Arts & Letters Students Earn First-Place Awards at Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum

Eight students whose primary majors are in the College of Art & Letters received first-place awards for their research and creative scholarship presented at Michigan State University’s 28th annual University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF). Perfect Achievement: 16 College of Arts & Letters Graduates Receive Board of Trustees Awards

Sixteen College of Arts & Letters students who are graduating in Spring 2026 have earned the Board of Trustees Award for having maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during their undergraduate education. These students are among the 315 graduating from MSU in Spring 2026 with a 4.0 GPA, the highest scholastic average one can attain at the end of their undergraduate career at Michigan State University.
