My experiences at Michigan State are some that will stay with me for life. I chose to study abroad in Valencia over the summer between my junior and senior years, and I could not recommend it more to someone considering the program. The culture, language, and lifestyle of Spain is not something that can be taught in a classroom. It has to be experienced. I have been taking Spanish classes since 8th grade and loved the language, but did not develop a passion for it until I took the plunge to go abroad. I chose Valencia not only because of the rich culture and location, but also because of the easy access to other European countries that offer vastly different cultures and immeasurable experiences. All this would not have been possible without my involvement here at MSU. So to those who are wary about stepping out of their comfort zone, I would say it is definitely worth it. MSU allows access to many experiences that will change your life, and these opportunities may only be available while in college. Take advantage of what MSU offers while you still can. Because of my experience studying abroad, I plan to move back to Madrid after graduation to teach English. I never thought that would be part of my life plan, but I’m choosing to step out of my comfort zone and experience new things! I’m excited to show Madrid that Spartans Will go above and beyond what is expected of them. Go Green!
