The Italian club was involved in many events this semester. MSU hosted the Italian Film Festival and showcasedsome of the great new films Italy has to offer during the weekend of April 12-13. This event was free and open to everyone! All films were in Italian with English subtitles. Some of these films included Manuel, Put Grandma in the Freezer, La Ragazza Nella Nebbia, and Ti Presento Sofia.
This year was an exciting year for the French Club at MSU. We started the semester with a Chocolate Fondue that our members were able to enjoy while watching Dîner de Cons. We had cultural guests such as MSU Alumnus Michael Miller from McGill University who talked about Québec comics as we ate poutine and pouding chômeur. One of our most popular events was with one of our French professors and faculty advisor, Anne Violin-Wigent, during which we learned how to swear in French!
The spring semester started with with a huge turnout for our cheese fondue event. Our members also came together throughout the spring semester to write and illustrate 8 children’s books in French to be donated to a school in Haiti. The spring semester will end with a Crêpe Night on April 9th and a Provence Picnic on April 23rd in the Wells Courtyard. Next year we have even bigger plans for the Haitian project and even more opportunities to expand our members knowledge of Francophone cultures!
